Transformer is used for transferring the power from one circuit to another circuit without changing the characteristics like phase and frequency. Transformers consist of two circuits like primary and secondary circuit. There are several types of transformers used for different purposes like power generation, distribution, and utilization of the electric power. Types of transformers depend on its working and purpose bases.

Types of various transformers –

Air core transformerLee Spring – Commercial Spring Manufacturer is used for making both winding because it is able to bear large loads of power. So, in this transformer both winding are wound on a non magnetic strip. Flux linkage is through the air between the both primary and secondary winding. The mutual inductance is less in the air core transformer then iron core transformer.

Iron core transformer – in this transformer, primary and secondary winding is wound on multiple magnetic plates that help to provide the perfect path to the generated flux. Iron consists of magnetic and conductive property so it offers less resistance to linkage flux.

Auto transformer- there is secondary and primary winding used for generating power which is connected to each other in a series. In this transformer, a single coil forms the secondary and primary winding in which voltage varies.

Power transformers – if you want to supply high voltage power then you should use power transformers. It consists of high insulation property so it is used in transmission of substation and power generation station.

Distribution transformer – distribution transformers are used for distributing power which is generated from power plants. It distributes the power energy at low voltage for industrial and domestic purposes. It is small in size and easy to use so you can use it for power distribution. It also works at low efficiency approx. 50 to 70%.
