If there’s one thing that I am absolutely certain when purchasing a new house, get yourselves a security door. I was sceptical on how much difference the thin addition can make. Right now, I would only say, if you are looking for security doors in Melbourne, you have to look for Clearshield.

Flashback to months ago when we first move into this two-bedroom, two-bathroom house in a newly developed area, my husband and I were stunned to finally own a property under our names. Rather than constantly moving in and out, this is the place that we can proudly stay for the next decade and more.

Soon, we invited our friends here for a house party. Weirdly, many of them suggested us to install security doors and screens to our home. Honestly, we were not impressed by then. Why would we add ugly additions to our new dwelling?

But one of them left us the contact of Clearshield, saying that the product is great and invited us to their place to see it in person. Because of the kind gesture, there is no reason to reject.

So, we were at their place the next weekend. Rather than saying that we were impressed, I am not really mindful of the semi-transparent security addition to their gorgeous front door. And the minimalist security screens were much less noticeable than their neighbour’s steel rod solution that made it felt like a prison rather than a home.

As we are planning to have kids in the future, my husband was active in enhancing the safety of our home. He contacted Clearshield all by himself (while made me angry) and have them installed within a month.

Although the security doors were less visually obstructive as I expected, the additional steps that I have to take after arriving home while handful of groceries were extremely annoying. And our home just did not blend in with the neighbourhood that was starting to move in.

Here comes the dramatic change that everyone is waiting for. In a random day when I was packed with meetings, I was constantly spammed by a caller. Just when I was going to tell the annoying arsehole to stop calling me, it was the police who is calling. And he told us that our neighbourhood was broken in.

The atmosphere in the neighbourhood was dense. Our new neighbours did not even have the time to install any security measures before the burglars swiped the area. With all the broken doors and windows, I did not think the thin stainless-steel stand a chance.

While not adding any salt to others disappointment, I was glad to see my place free of any form of breaking in. Despite some slash marks and scratch marks were present, they could not even open the door or penetrate the stainless-steel screen.

The doors and window screens from Clearshield held up perfectly against the later-found targeted burglary to a newly built area. Every time I come home afterwards, I have never been annoyed by the extra door anymore.
