In the market for a diamond or jewellery? You may want to look into Zales and use their military discount.

Jewelry, especially diamonds, can be quite expensive, especially if you want a high-quality, beautiful product.

Let’s take a look at Zales, the company, so you can understand their storied past and dedication to beautiful diamonds.

Zales military discount policy

Zales offers members of the armed forces a 10% discount on purchases.

This discount is valid all year round, but it is not clear whether it is valid in all Zales stores or not, or whether the discount will apply in the coming years.

Zales also offers exclusive custom jewelry with a military and service theme. Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force and even Coast Guard members and their families will appreciate these themed pendants, bracelets, watches and more.

Outside of special military discounts, Zales often offers discounts of up to 50% on selected rings, necklaces, earrings, bracelets and other jewelry.

Does the discount work with coupon codes?

No, this discount does not work with coupons. In addition, the 10% discount is only valid on items that have not yet been discounted.

Who is eligible?

Active duty military personnel as well as veterans or retired military personnel are eligible for this discount.

All you need to do is carry your current military ID or your veteran ID, whichever the case may be. It also makes sense to call the nearest Zales store to confirm whether they will honor the discount.

Other ways to save at Zales

The diamond credit card

With the Diamond Credit Card from Zales you can buy jewelry in the online store or in the store and pay over a period of 6 months to 36 months.

There is a minimum purchase level for which this offer is valid and there is also a minimum monthly payment requirement.

The credit card is offered in conjunction with Comenity Capital Bank, which also determines the qualifications.

For purchases made under the financing plan, a transaction fee of $9.95 will be added. You also get $50 off your birthday and 10% off any repair service. Shipping in the United States and U.S. territories is free for all cardholders.

In addition, you will also receive coupons, jewelry inspection reminders and cleaning notifications at regular intervals throughout the year.

Progressive Lease Program

Zales has another innovative program to make it easier for you to own your favorite piece of jewelry called progressive leasing.

This is essentially a no-credit purchase option or a hire-purchase option. You will receive the merchandise immediately, but you will not own the goods until you have made all the required payments.

There is also an early buyout option. Once you request it, you will be informed of your maximum card limit. The value of the goods you buy must be within this limit. You can buy the items in any Zales store and sign the rental agreement electronically.

Pay the lease amount in flexible payments, a 90-day payment option, or one of the early payout options.

Note that this program is not available in Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

To qualify for the lease purchase program, you must be at least 18 years of age or older, have a Social Security number, have the routing and account number for an open and active checking account, and either a credit or debit card.

Ten for ten layaway plan

Zales also has something called the Ten for Ten plan, which allows you to pay 10% of the price as a down payment and the remainder in ten equal monthly payments.

However, this option is only available for purchases in one of the Zales stores and not for online purchases.

Zales: a quick company history

The first Zales Jewelers store was opened in 1924 in Wichita Falls, Texas by Morris Zale, William Zale and Ben Lipshy.

The “a cent and a dollar a week” credit plan offered by Zales was one of a kind, and in less than two decades it propelled them to open 12 Zales stores in Texas and Oklahoma.

In 1946, Zales moved his headquarters from Wichita to Dallas, Texas. A little over ten years later, in 1957-58, Zales opened his first store in a shopping center and began trading his shares on the American Stock Exchange.

In the 1960s, the company branched out into several other product categories such as footwear, sporting goods, furniture, pharmaceuticals, and catalog stores and was renamed Zale Corporation around the same time.

By then, the company was growing at breakneck speed, and by the 1980s, Zale Corporation’s sales had crossed the $1 billion mark.

During this decade, the company went on a wave of takeovers. It first acquired an 890-carat diamond, in 1984 the largest internally flawless diamond in the world.

Five years later, in 1989, Zales acquired Gordon’s Jewelers, which had a chain of 469 stores and was headquartered in Houston, Texas.

In 1985, the company moved its headquarters again, this time to Irving, also in Texas.

The early 1990s were a particularly difficult period for the company, ending with the company filing for bankruptcy in 1992.

It turned out to be a blessing in disguise, however, as the debt restructuring process significantly bolstered the company’s finances, and in 1997 the company’s annual sales exceeded $1.3 billion.

Towards the end of the decade, the company took new steps again. The online store was launched in 1998 and in 1999-2000 the company acquired Peoples Jewelers of Canada and Piercing Pagoda.

Since the turn of the millennium, Zales has mainly focused on expanding its e-commerce business. Zales launched gordonsjewelers.com in 2007 and in 2009 it launched zalesoutlet.com.

This has continued into the current decade as well. The company launched an online platform specifically for Piercing Pagoda on pagoda.com and launched a multi-channel online shopping platform for Canadians on peoplesjewellers.com.

Zales, which was purchased in 2014 by specialty retailer Signet Jewelers Inc., today has 704 stores (as of February 3, 2018) in North America and Puerto Rico, making it one of the largest jewelers in the region.

Zales, which includes Zales Jewelers and Zales Outlet, accounted for 20% of Signet’s total revenue in fiscal 2018.

It is best known for its collection of diamond jewelry, including exclusive diamond designs by the likes of Vera Wang and Neil Lane. Zales’ collaboration with Vera Wang began in 2012, with a collection of diamond bridal jewelry known as the Vera Wang Love Collection.
