THE INTERNATIONAL BALLOON MONTH

Some background on this amazing art

Balloon Art is the art of decorating with balloons. This can be anything from shaping animals to creating beautiful organic arches or garlands

WHO USES BALLOONS?

Although it may seem like a sector exclusively dedicated to children, decorating with balloons is increasingly in demand even by adults. More and more balloons are requested for parties like Halloween,  graduations but also for weddings and other events.

Usually, we think of round, classic balloons, tied to a thread to give colour to the party, but not everyone knows that balloons of different shapes and colours can be used with specific techniques to decorate events with amazing results.

September is the International of Balloon Month and spectacular balloon art pieces are in display all over Europe and Asia

DID YOU KNOW?

Some artists are now using balloons to storytelling in theatres: no more puppets, but beautiful displays or colourful balloons to animate the stories.

In 2014 Balloon Manor, in Rochester NY, set up  “The VERY Tall Tale of Jack and his Beanstalk” completely made of balloonsV.isitors could climb the balloon beanstalk themselves via the escalator.

Balloon Art was born in America; it’s an art in constant evolution, as are the materials used and the always new and creative techniques that are taught by specialists at bespoke international meetings and conferences.

Japan is quite advanced in creating the lastest balloons. Very trendy at the moment, are the so-called multi bubble ones. You can easily see around Minnies in clear bubbles and any other major Disney cartoons.

BALLOONS IN YOUR WEDDING/EVENT?

As a balloon decorator and wedding florist myself, I love combining the use of both materials to create beautiful organic garlands as centrepieces for tables or arches. More and more couples ask me to incorporate this fun art in their wedding. Surprisingly also because I ‘m a Wedding Planner in Italy (well based both in London and Italy) and think Italy as the most artistic place in the world.

HELIUM or AIR BALLOONS?

The effect of the helium inflation is certainly more dramatic;  however, since helium is a non-renewable natural resource, it’s acquisition costs are quite elevated. Helium is usually used for covering up ceilings with balloons.
