As you probably know, pallets are used to hold goods and other itemsand, in a warehouse setting, be stored on pallet shelves or racking. They can then be moved from one part of a warehouse to another quite easily. Sopallets are particularly useful within the warehouse industry.
However, when wooden pallets are used to deliver large bulky hardware orders to homes, the humble pallet is often seen as an eyesore and something to get rid of pretty darn quick. It used to be the case that people would break them down and take them to the nearest dump, or even use them as firewood.

You might pull a face at the idea of having a pallet as a furniture item in the house but if you are good with your hands and enjoy DIY, you could create something really beautiful and unique. We have seen absolutely stunning coffee tables made from pallets. With the right stain and a glass top, you might be pleasantly surprised at the end result. Moreover, adding casters or wheels mean you could have a beautiful table that can also be effortlessly moved around the home as needed.
Garden Swing
If as a childyou always dreamed of having your own swing, dream no more. Now you can have that swing using an old pallet! You will need a few tools and some strong rope or chain (and a tree to suspend it from). All you have to do is get your pallet and securely attach the rope or chain to each corner.You thenattach the rope to a tree branch. Ensure the tree is strong enough to hold the weight of the swing – and the person sitting on it of course. Add a couple of cushions for comfort and you have the perfect place to sit and relax.
An Outdoor Bar
Now this is one we like! All you need for this clever item is a couple of pallets painted and secured together standing upright. Adding a strong countertop and securing it to a wallwill give you a beautiful outdoor bar that you and your friends can sit by in warm weather and enjoy those beers!
An Upright Garden
With the right type of pallet, you could create a stunning upright garden feature. By stapling some landscape fabric to the back, bottom, and sides of the pallet, you will have an enclosed space to pour some soil in. Once the soil is in, you can start planting. Remember to leave the pallet lying flat for a couple of weeks and water it regularly. When the plants start to grow, flip the pallet into an upright position and attach it to a wall or the side of a garden shed for a beautiful garden feature.
Bookshelves
We have seen some stunning ideas for bookshelves made of pallets. Those who are good at DIY can create truly exceptional works of art for almost every room in the home. And the great news is that all you need do is look online for some funky ideas and instructions.
