Email spam is generally referred to as sending repetitive messages in bulk. It has increased a lot in the trecena years. Since the digital world has been seeing a huge rise in existence everything is now related to technology and advertising. You can get to know about the whole wide world at your fingertips, order anything online from a store nearby or across towns within minutes and make the heaviest transactions online. Due to all these modern changes, small businesses, as well as scammers too, have found work for themselves online.
The cheapest and most hassle-free mode of advertising is doing it online by sending spam emails. A lot of people view these spam emails and get influenced very quickly by whatever is mentioned in the mail. They will not think twice before clicking on the mentioned link. This carelessness is very harmful to your device as it may contain malware that will tamper with your device or hack your information.
To avoid such situations, and to help people understand the difference between primary mail and spam mail, mailing applications have created a “spam/junk folder”. It stores all the emails that according to your email server are fake or just spam.
Spam Folder in Gmail:
On the left panel of your Gmail account, you can see your spam folder. All the messages that are not important and have been reported as spam by other users directly go into the spam folder so that you do not have to search a lot to find an important message.
The spam folder feature of Gmail allows you to report an email as “spam” if you feel it is not legit and is either fake or unsafe. The revies of such messages start dropping down each time anyone reports a message and accordingly it starts to appear in the spam section. You can manually edit the spam folder. One must check the spam in a few days to check whether any of their importance has or has not been marked as spam and if you think it has, then you can manually remove it from there without any hassle.
Google has also started deleting the spam mails on its own after a few weeks. This helps you in saving space on your device. Since your spam mails will not be open by you, you do not need to click “delete” on every email, Gmail will do that for you.
You should always be careful while opening emails. And make sure that the mails you check and the links you open are legit and you trust the sites. One must always access their email ids and other important accounts from safe and reliable sites only. You should also be careful of the device you are using. If you do not have a laptop for yourself then make sure you do not access important valuable documents through anybody’s random device. Hacking and infesting a laptop/computer with viruses and malware is the easiest thing to do these days. It has now become the source of income for a lot of people.
